"I believe that everything happens for a reason."
"Dream more and even bigger! All those dreams if you truly want them to happen, will come true some day."

"I think Ive always wanted to be a Maker but never really quite believed that it would be possible."

"It took only few weeks after posting the first few pictures of my creations online for them to be featured in New York Magazine."

"I think Ive always wanted to be a Maker but never really quite believed that it would be possible."

Agni noticed a gap in the marketplace: She couldn’t seem to find playful yet affordable watches. So this Toronto-based designed created a few styles, posted photos online, and heard from New York Magazine within a few weeks—they wanted to write about her work. “That very feature changed my life,” Agni says, “and encouraged me to establish and pursue May 28th as a brand."

She says she always wanted to be a Maker, but never quite believed it would be possible. She’s a self-taught designer and a very fast learned: “The brand’s rapid growth made me discover so many things in quite a short period of time, and it continues to be an adventure because the learning process never ends!"

Who inspires you to do what you do?

My husband and son, the May28th team and most of all—our customers. Their feedback gives us inspiration to keep going and being better.

Any design trends you’re looking to for 2014?

I'm always excited about new patterns. I think 2014 will be another great year for innovative patterns and we will keep incorporating them into May28th designs as well.

How do you get around creative blocks?

Any form of relaxation helps—biking, hiking, playing with my son Toms, yoga and meditation.

Where was the last place you visited that inspired you?

Ubud, Bali has always inspired me. There’s something positive about the aura in the town and people over there that encourages me to dream bigger and just be in a constantly creative mode.
